Bridal Convention in Poland

A standard Polish wedding used to be a three or perhaps four time matter. Usually, it was held outside in parks, trees and buildings. They were a celebration of life and the bounty of characteristics Today, however, many couples choose to skip the temple and basically have a service in their house or yard with close family and friends. They still enjoy the fantastic meals, song and liquor but it’s not quite what it once was.

On the night of the ceremony, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- evening wedding), comes the common service known as “oczepiny”, the opening of the bride. At this point, the mask is removed and she dons her czepek – a helmet worn by Polish priestesses to reflect their standing as married people. This is also when the long tresses are unbraided and cut short, as a symbol of her transition from boyhood to femininity.

As the pair leave the church, guests shower them with currencies and particles, to give them luck and prosperity. They therefore change into their gathering clothes. It is also conventional to put little, round coins into the couple’s scalp– whoever collects the most will remain in charge of their finances.

The bash begins, and you’ll get a lot of dancing going on. Poles think that this reduces the side effects of too much drinking. There will be a lot of meals overly, including lots of different types of sweets, snacks and ice cream.
